I'm David Burnao, the creator of Fold. I design and build the assistant and the custom automations requested through it, and I'm the one who stands behind everything that comes out of here.

How I started
I started out of curiosity about artificial intelligence, with one specific question: once you strip away the noise, what can it actually do today that's useful to a real business? The only way to find out is by building things and seeing which ones hold up.
Along the way I saw where it made the most sense: in businesses with no IT department, where someone loses hours every week typing things in, copying data from one place to another, or answering the same question over and over.
From learning I moved on to building for real businesses. First, for an accounting firm: a system that reads their scanned invoices and bank statements and prepares what goes into their accounting software. Then, for a logistics company: a portal where their clients check their stock from their phone. Working with real documents and spreadsheets teaches you what no example ever does: that a scan comes out crooked, that everyone records things their own way, that a piece of data is missing exactly where you need it. Fold was born out of all of that: from seeing that the question that comes up most often in any business is «where is this piece of data?».
I combine it with a Law degree, which I study at Universidad Abat Oliba CEU. And I keep learning every week: what I learn goes straight into what I build.
How I work
I start by looking at how it's done today, by hand, step by step. I look for what repeats, and make it run on its own, connected to the software already in use. First on trial, with real documents, and only once what it does matches what a person would have done, it goes live.

- I test with real documents and spreadsheets, not examples, before I say something is ready.

- What belongs to each company stays with that company. That's why the case studies on this site don't carry names.

- There's a person behind Fold, not a call centre. I'm the one who reads the email on this site.
