How to ask good questions
no special syntax required — ask Fold the way you'd ask a coworker.
Fold is built for plain-language questions, the same ones you'd ask a colleague: "what's the price on this account?", "which deliveries went out last week with that carrier?", "how much stock is left of this item?".
The more specific, the better
If your question includes the exact customer name, date, item number, or route, Fold finds the right row faster. A more open question ("give me the pricing for this catalog") still gets searched, but may return several rows if there's ambiguity.
What it does when there's more than one possible answer
Fold doesn't choose for you. If two or more rows could be the answer, it shows you all of them so you can pick, instead of risking a guess. That's a deliberate choice: we'd rather say "here are both" than give a confident wrong number.
What it does when it can't find the data
If the answer isn't in the files Fold has uploaded or is watching, it tells you clearly ("that's not in the price list" or similar) instead of making up a number that sounds plausible. Every figure Fold gives has to come from a real lookup in your data.
Every answer cites its source
When Fold gives you a number, it tells you which file, which sheet, and which row it came from, so you can check it yourself. That's covered in more detail in "Where every figure comes from."
Asking it to watch a file
If you want Fold to not just answer but also keep an eye on a specific office file and keep it up to date, just say so in the chat: "upload the pricing spreadsheet every time it changes." Fold asks before it starts watching a new file — it never uploads anything without your confirmation — and you can ask it to stop whenever you like: "stop uploading the stock file."

A note on what Fold won't do
Fold doesn't estimate, doesn't round, and won't decide between two conflicting prices if the file doesn't make clear which one is correct: it shows you both and says it doesn't know which is right.
