Team and roles: owner, admin, and member
the four roles a person can have on your Fold account, what each one can do, and how to invite or remove someone.
Every company manages its own team inside Fold, without anyone external having to step in. There are four roles:
| Role | What it can do | |---|---| | Owner | Pays, changes the plan, and manages everything. There's only one per company. | | Admin | Invites and removes people, manages files, connections, and automations. Doesn't pay or change the plan. | | Member | Uses Fold: asks questions, requests new features, opens support tickets. | | Read-only | Asks questions and looks things up, without being able to change anything. |
Inviting someone
From Account › Team, the owner or an admin invites someone by email, choosing their role. An admin can invite people as members or read-only; only the owner can appoint admins. The invitation expires after 7 days and only works once.
The seat limit comes from your plan
Each plan includes a number of seats (for example, the Free plan comes with a single person; paid plans give you more, depending on the plan — check the current numbers on the plans screen). Active people plus unused invitations both count toward the limit.
If you downgrade and have more people than your plan allows
Nobody gets deleted. The extra people are frozen (unable to log in) until you upgrade again or the owner picks who stays active. As soon as there's room again, frozen people come back automatically, with nothing to do on your end.
Removing someone
The owner can remove anyone except themselves; an admin can remove a member or a read-only person, but not another admin — that's owner-only. When someone is removed, their sessions end immediately; nothing they did while on the team gets deleted.
Changing someone's role
Neither the owner nor an admin can change their own role. The owner role isn't "changed" — it's transferred.
Transferring ownership
The owner can offer another team member the new-owner role, confirming with their password. That person receives a link (valid for 72 hours, single use) and accepts it from their own session. Until they accept, the person who offered it stays the owner; once accepted, they automatically become an admin.
Activity log
Owners and admins can check a history in Team of who invited, removed, or changed whom, and when.
