How are questions counted?

Only what uses AI counts. Whatever Fold answers without AI (looking up a figure in your files, the calendar, the dashboard, the alerts) is unlimited and is marked "No question cost". A message that uses AI counts as many questions as it contains (three questions in one message count as three), up to 5 per message, and a very long request may count a few more. Next to the answer you always see "This query counted as N questions" when it's more than one.

Only what uses AI counts as a plan question. Everything Fold answers without AI —looking up a price, a customer or stock in your files, the calendar, the monthly dashboard, the alerts— is unlimited on every plan and costs nothing: next to the answer you'll see "No question cost".

Several questions in one message

If a message that uses AI contains several questions (for example "how much did we sell in August? and also, which customer bought the most?"), it counts as many as it contains, up to 5 per message: ten questions in one message count as 5. Fold spots them by the question marks, by the "and also"s and by numbered lists. When in doubt it counts fewer, never more.

Very long requests

A request that makes the AI read or write a huge amount (a long analysis) may count a few more questions, also capped at 5 per message. Normally one question counts as one.

Always visible

When a message counts as more than one, next to the answer you'll see "This query counted as N questions". Account › Usage shows AI questions (the ones your plan counts) and direct queries (unlimited) separately.

Things that aren't about your business

Fold is there for your company. If it's asked for something unrelated to the business (a poem, homework, generic programming code), it says so kindly, without spending AI or questions, and invites you to ask about your data. To prevent abuse there's also a per-person brake that never kicks in at a normal pace.
